Easy DIY Christmas Decor ~ These homemade Christmas craft ideas will make your home decor festive and affordable, while adding a little "merry and bright" to your Holiday 🎄

Add warmth and comfort to your traditional decor by repurposing old sweaters. Make container cozies by cutting off the cuff end of a sweater sleeve and whipstitching the bottom into a circle. Turn down the sweater edge and sew on jingle bells. These are also great for plain coffee mugs, an instant gift!

Personalized Advent calendars make the countdown to Christmas even more meaningful. Start your own Advent board by wrapping foam core with linen and framing the board. Dress up plain gift tags by printing numbers and adding a small bauble or gift {NOTE: we use ornaments for our calendar and put the treasured "gift" on the tree each morning, the dollar bins are perfect to find cheap ornaments for this craft or you can look for sets and split it up for each day} to each tag.

Dirty Kitchen????

"Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: … whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies — in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 4:9-10,11

After traveling for hours or simply across town, you arrive for dinner. Your host, whether it be family or friends, has a meal and/or snacks prepared for when you arrive, then dinner, and possibly breakfast if you are staying then repeat the pattern as long as you are.

We start to worry that the kitchen may be too crowded, that the appliances are old and worn, the dishes are piled high in the sink from the food preparation ...... but does the atmosphere feel like "home"? Does that prepared food from the sink full of dishes scream "EAT ME"!

There have been times I’ve worried more about my kitchen than how I could serve others. I’ve fret over the size and messiness but I have to stop and think .... am I really so concerned about the dirty pots in my sink that I would miss out on the family game being played in the next room? I don't want to be busy cleaning up the mess that I don't get to enjoy the very people I invited over for food, fun and fellowship! What kind of example would I be setting? My example has nothing to do with a spotless kitchen, in fact, with the kitchen a mess it creates a blessing for all to see, a blessing that God provided.

I want my service to be like Peter in the key verse, grounded "by the strength that God supplies." I want to long for people to know Jesus more than I long for the perfect kitchen.

God cares more about what’s happening among the people in our kitchen than He cares about the state of it. I want to share God’s love, demonstrate His character and offer hospitality even in the midst of dirty dishes.

Dear Lord, show me ways to serve through the resources You’ve given me. Help me care more about people than things like dirty dishes. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Ask and Ask Again

“For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:8

Is there something you are believing God for .... does it seem like it’s taking a long time for your prayer to be answered? Be encouraged because the Bible says that through faith and patience, you will inherit God's promises. Don’t give up! Keep thanking God for His faithfulness in your life, keep thanking Him for whatever it is that you are asking for. Trust that His Word is true and that He will deliver, IF it is His will. Keep praying and keep an attitude of faith and expectancy. Keep asking ~ Keep seeking ~ Keep knocking on the door and it will be opened to you. It may seem like it’s taking a long time, but know this ~ God is working behind the scenes on your behalf, He is orchestrating things in your favor and His timing is always perfect! As you stay faithful in your prayers and thanksgiving, the Lord will move mightily on your behalf and He’ll take you places that you’ve never dreamed!

“Father, thank You for giving me a diligent spirit. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Give me strength to stand until I see Your promises fulfilled in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Blessings that Open Windows

“Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
Malachi 3:10

God promises to open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings on you BUT we have to do our part of this verse. Our part is to be a faithful tither and be obedient to the Lord with our finances. The truth is, we are all just stewards over the resources God has given us. When we are good and faithful stewards, the Lord entrusts us with more and He opens the windows of heaven. Have you ever thought about what kind of blessing would be so great that there would not be room enough to receive it? That's hard to comprehend, but that’s what God’s Word promises that He will do!

We need to make the decision to be givers, be better tithers and tithe the first tenth of our income. As the scripture says, get ready to prove the Lord because He is faithful. Thank Him today because He is going to pour out abundant blessings on every area of our lives .... so much so that we have to share it with others because it's too much for us! Now that's a blessing!!!

Father, You are so good! Thank You for choosing to bless me and for opening the windows of heaven in my life. I choose to be obedient to Your Word, I choose to be a giver and I choose to be a faithful steward of the resources You have entrusted to me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
