Need a Change? Cheap, Quick, Simple Mini Makeovers

Layered Rugs
What's better than one rug? Two! Layer a smaller rug on top of a larger one to add dimension to a room. In this living room, the smaller rug defines the seating group. This trick works well if you have your eye on a rug that's a little pricey. If you start with a simple, solid base rug, you can buy a smaller, less expensive rug to add the pattern you crave.

Paint a Plain Shade
Add personality to a bland Roman shade with paint. Map out your design (here, a chevron pattern) with painter's tape, and use a roller or paintbrush to apply latex paint to the shade. Allow the paint to fully dry before operating the shade.

Bedding Mix
Bedding sets are easy because everything is already pulled together for you. But the overall look can sometimes lack a little pizzazz. Swap out one or two items in your bedding set for something new, such as bright blue shams that pick up on the stripe in your duvet.

We Are NOT Here By Accident

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you...” Jeremiah 1:5

God knew who we were before we were even born.....Isn't that just an amazing thought when you really think about it! He saw our unformed substance and said, “I have a purpose for this life. I have good plans for them!” Then He breathed His life into each of us and sent us here through our mother and father. They may have had or are having ups and downs throughout our life, but that doesn’t have to stop us from becoming all that God intended for us to be. We have been handpicked by Almighty God to be here at this time in history!

Sometimes we hear parents say, “We weren’t expecting this child. They were a surprise. They were an accident.” Well, that child may have been a surprise to the parents, but they weren’t a surprise to Almighty God ~ NO child can be born without God breathing His life into them. We may think, “Well, I was unwanted. I was an unplanned pregnancy.” Of course, we wouldn’t be here if God didn’t give life to our seed. Think about poor Mary, being a virgin to boot, having a baby ....... do think she planed that?!?!?!?!

In God’s eyes, there is no such thing as a human, being an accident. Remember, He knew who we were and who we are going to be before we were ever born! Find confidence in His love knowing that we are a person of destiny and we are part of His mighty plan! He watched His own son be crucified and then He brought Him back to life so that WE CAN HAVE LIFE! That my friends is the most non-accident there is!

Father, thank You for choosing me before I was ever born. Thank You for knowing me and revealing Yourself to me. I trust that You are working in my life today, even when I can’t see it. I stand in faith knowing that You have a mighty plan for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

New Year, New Idea ~ Cheap and Easy Home Fixes.....January is the best month to clean out, to start fresh and organize your home.

Cheap and Easy Seasonal Home Fixes ~ Whether you are spring cleaning and updating or getting ready for the Holidays, here are some cheap and easy ideas from corralling kids' toys to sprucing up your decor ~ these ideas will show you how to get your home looking company-ready in no time with some quick household spruce-ups.

Trouble Spot: Toy Explosion
Toys, like dust bunnies, seem to multiply when you're not looking. This is particularly true during the holidays, when children have lots of time on their hands to play with new toys and rediscover old ones.
Fast fix: Designate labeled areas in your mudroom or children's bedrooms for toys, and encourage kids to clean up every day before bedtime. Create a chart that rewards each day's good work with a star.

Trouble Spot: Tired Room
Ready for a new look this season but don't have the time or budget for large-scale redecorating?
Fast fix: Give your room a colorful jolt of visual interest by covering an accent wall with patterned wallpaper or a bold paint color.

Trouble Spot: Unseasonal Room
If adding paint or wallpaper seems too extreme or time-consuming, you can still give a tired, unseasonal room a new look by switching out decor and accessories.
Fast fix: Choose a color-coordinated selection of pillows, throws, rugs, and lampshades to enliven your space in a jiffy. Having a hard time choosing a color palette? Take a look in your closet to see which colors and patterns you wear most. Chances are that if you love to wear certain colors, you'll be happy' living with them, too.

Why does January always bring on organizing tips, trends and ideas? Well because it's a new year and a new start. Try these simple storage for less ideas rather than buying those expensive totes and tubs that are flooding most stores right now.

Store & Decorate
Organize and decorate at the same time with pretty baskets and boxes. Buy items that coordinate with your decor and meet your storage needs.

Wrap It Up
Turn coffee tins, soup cans, and powdered drink tubs into pretty storage containers by covering them with decorative papers. Cut the paper to size, then attach with spray adhesive or double-stick tape. They're perfect for holding pencils, pens, scissors, and other desk or crafts supplies.

Sports Basket
A simple laundry basket is the ideal candidate for storing bulky sports equipment. These spacious vessels are affordable and durable and can handle plenty of wear and tear. To affix a label to the basket, punch holes in the corners of the labels. Run zip ties through the holes and through the weave of the basket to attach.
