Eme's Mini Room Re-do ~ Out with the little girl Pink and in with the tween Orange!

So a few years ago we were asked to be on our local Holiday Homes Tour. We said yes and that started a massive re-do and up-do of numerous rooms and "things" in our house before it would be opened to the public for touring. One of the first things on my list was my daughters room, it was purple which we both were sick of and we went Tiffany blue. You can find all the posts from that transformation here.
Fast forward 2 years and she now very much dislikes pink! Her favorite color, currently, is orange. I told her we were NOT re-doing her room again so soon just because she doesn't want pink in there, so I told her we could incorporate orange but on the cheap. We started looking for a cheap orange mini bed set which we found at Target.com for $30 and then we added MORE lanterns and poms to her ever loved mobile. These were our first steps in adding orange.

I can't tell you how many lanterns and poms are in this thing because I have lost track but there are at least 30! I Love Love Love Luna Bazzar which is where we get all them. They are cheap and the color choices are amazing. We added orange, cantaloupe, coral and peach.

Like I said we found the mini bedding set which included 1 duvet and 2 shams at Target.com for a mere $29.99, a STEAL for bedding in my book! Since her black/white and white ruffle set are from Pottery Barn, which I scored on Ebay at a fraction of retail. The orange and peach colored toss pillows belonged to my sons girlfriend who had them a garbage bag ready to throw out when I glanced in there and so them, so those fit my re-do budget perfectly....FREE!

And lastly, for this post

Back to School Craft Projects that will make your preparations easy for the kiddos and yourself!

Back-to-school time is upon us ~ yes I know it's July  but in our district we are just 2.5 weeks out until our school bells ring! Get your kids (and yourself) ready for another year of bus stops, books, and bake sales. We've got fun ideas to help you face the first day.

Magnetic Lunch Chart
A kid may be more likely to eat her lunch if she helps choose the menu. When she uses this magnetic chart to map out her meals for the week, it saves time and helps make grocery shopping easier.
Just download and print a magnetic chart onto a full-size magnet sheet. Then print the food name label onto a second magnetic sheet and cut it out. Together, come up with a variety of sandwiches, fruits, healthy snacks, and desserts; then print them out and let the child fill in the blanks.

Roll-Up Pencil Kit
Our organizer safely keeps pencils together in one place and rolls up, too, making it compact enough to tote to school and back. We used an old place mat for extra sturdiness and a cheerful design, and added shoelaces instead of ribbons for the ties.
Materials
Place mat (approximately 18 inches wide)
Pins
Ruler
Washable marker
Shoelace
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Lay place mat facedown; fold the right edge over to be 2 inches short of the left edge. Pin in place. Use a ruler and a washable marker to draw parallel lines perpendicular to the fold, about 1 inch apart. Fold a shoelace in half, and tuck its fold between the layers at the midpoint of one side. Next, sew up the two sides of the pouch -- the shoelace will be sewn in -- and along the parallel lines. Slide pencils into the compartments, and roll the case toward the shoelace side, then tie the laces.

5 Ways to Save on School Supplies

Take advantage of tax-free weekends. Ten states offer this shopping perk: During one weekend in August, back-to-school items, like backpacks and footwear, are tax-free. (For a list of participating locales, go to taxadmin.org.)
Wait for discounts. Big markdowns on clothing, electronics, and shoes typically occur in mid-August. The reward for your patience? Savings of 40 to 50 percent in stores and 20 to 25 percent with online retailers.
Buy a backpack with a warranty. Book bags take a beating, so buy your child’s backpack from a reputable company, such as L.L. Bean, REI, or the North Face, that guarantees its merchandise. If a zipper breaks, the company will replace the backpack at no charge or it may give you your money back.
Ask for a student discount on software. Flash a valid K–12 or college ID at tech stores or send a copy via e-mail or fax to sites like academicsuperstore.com or journeyed.com and you could get up to 80 percent off your purchase.
Buy school supplies at warehouse or big-box retailers. The prices will be much lower than at supermarkets and drugstores.

Don’t Be Intimidated By Your Enemies

“Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies...” Philippians 1:28

With God on our side, there is no reason to be intimidated by our enemies. We don’t have to be intimidated by poor health, it’s no match for our God ~ sickness and disease cannot keep us from our destiny. We don't have to be intimated by our finances, what we lack is no match for our God ~ our lack cannot keep us from our destiny. We don't have to be intimated by people, they are no match for our God ~ what they say about or do to us cannot keep us from our destiny. God has us (and our destiny) in the palm of His hand, nothing can snatch us away. There is an anointing on our life as children of the Most High that seals us, protects us, enables us and empowers us. God has infused us with strength to face any enemy that comes our way ~ claim and speak Scripture that says "we can do all things through Christ".

No longer can we hang our head, instead we need to go out with confidence, go out with boldness knowing that if God is for us, it doesn’t even matter who is against us ~ GET BEHIND ME SATAN! No foe can stand against the power of Almighty God ~ we are empowered and equipped for victory, so don’t be intimidated!

Father, thank You for empowering me to live in victory no matter what I may be facing. I trust that no matter what comes my way, I am safe in the palm of Your hand. I won’t be intimidated by anything in Jesus’ name! Amen!
