Add interest overhead and extend your outdoor space’s usable hours by hanging sconces over the dining table. Here, silver sconces in different shapes and hung at varying levels provide a fun focal point in this mostly white outdoor room.

There's nothing quite like taking a Sunday afternoon nap in your own backyard hammock. Don't worry if you don't have two perfectly spaced trees to hang one from. Attach the hammock to a pergola like these homeowners did, and still benefit from the shade the pergola provides. A hammock stand is another option.

Patriotic tin can luminaria ~ Kick the can? Not when they're punched, painted and filled with votive candles. This new take on the standard outdoor luminaria is equally at home on a picnic table or lining your walkways. They're inexpensive and simple to make, using a hammer and nail.

Tie the bag with red waxed twine, and don't be surprised if you catch yourself humming "Stars and Stripes Forever."

Star-Spangled DIY Ideas to Use Mason Jars for Your 4th of July Decor ~ Great crafts for adults and maybe some kiddos also.

While you can definitely use these littered jars to light the night, why not opt to showcase them at the entrance to our backyard party. Simply adhere a star sticker to the jar, spray paint the jars in random fashion, remove the sticker and add a tea light.

If you're inspired by these lanterns, then you'll be even more surprised by how easy they are to make. Paint, tape, stickers start the job, but it's sandpaper (rubbed lightly around the jars) that gives them a distressed look.
