Completely Genius Trash-to-Treasure Crafts

A broom's straw-like texture and neutral coloring makes it a great decorative element for a rustic-themed room. This pencil holder is more homey and helpful than the uninspired, angular cups you'd find at an office supply store.

Yes, even this piece of rubber can find a place in your home that's not the garage. You've probably seen hanging tire planters, but this DIY morphs their utiliarian structure into something truly unrecognizeable.

You might be ready for new furniture, but don't drag your hulking wall unit to the curb quite yet. Instead, create a faux cooking space for your kids. This one's much more special than anything you'd find at a store — and you can even treat them to a stainless steel fridge!

It's Spring ~ Here are some SPRING-Y Ways to Add Curb Appeal to Your Home

It's Spring and it's time to spruce up your home on the inside BUT don't forget the outside too!  If your home's curb appeal makes a great first impression, everyone (including potential home buyers if that is your circumstance) will want to see what's inside. Check out these simple, low-cost improvements that you can do in a day or a weekend to create the appeal everyone will envy.

Create an instant garden ~ Container gardens add a welcoming feel and colorful appeal to any home exterior -- quickly and affordably. You can buy ready-made containers from garden centers or create your own with your favorite plants. For most landscapes, a staggered, asymmetrical arrangement works best to create a dynamic setting.

Do a mailbox makeover ~ Mailboxes should complement the home and express the homeowner's personality. When choosing a hanging drop box, pick a box that mirrors your home's trimmings. Dress up mail boxes by painting the wooden post to match the house's exterior color, or by surrounding it by a beautiful flowering garden.

Add arbors or fence panels ~ Arbors, garden gates, and short sections of decorative fence panels will enhance your garden and the value of your home. These amenities can be found in easy-to-build kits or prefab sections you simply connect together. For best results, paint or stain these items with colors already on your house.

9 Quick and Easy DIYs to do with a Sharpie

Everyone loves a Sharpie, well almost everyone (moms with small kiddos who have gotten their tiny hands on one of these probably not so much). So grab a pillow, a plate... even an iPhone case, and let your Sharpie go to town.

Turn your doodles into dinnerware! All you need to complete this project are plates, a Sharpie, and an oven. This design was created by drawing a series of ovals inside one another, filling them in with whimsical triangles.

Give your morning coffee an extra pick-me-up, with sweet his and hers mugs you can make in a snap. Simply pen your sentiment of choice and bake it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, and the design will stay permanently. To keep your design looker new longer, opt for hand washing over the dishwasher.

Refuse to Worry

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Matthew 6:27

This is a depressing time of year, unfortunately! We start to worry about getting this year "right", paying off our holiday bills, what kind of things this new year will old in store for us.....and the list can go on and on.

BUT God doesn’t want us to live worried and anxious about this year, or last year, about anything! He knows that worry is counterproductive because it steals our peace and joy and affects every area of our life ~ our sleep, our health, our relationships, even our peace. Worry steals precious moments of time that we can never get back.

We should rather be thinking about starting this year off right ~ decide today to put an end to worry in our life. Don’t feed worry by focusing on bad news all the time. Sure, we should be informed, but we should be more informed of the truth of the Word of God. Feed our faith by meditating on His Word and fill our heart and mind with God’s promises. Declare every day, “My God shall supply all of my needs. He makes a way out of no way. He is the Restorer and Redeemer.”

As we focus on God’s Word, we’ll drive out worry and fill our heart with faith and expectancy. We’ll experience His peace and joy and move forward into the blessings God has in store for us in this New Year!

Heavenly Father, today I choose to put an end to worry in my life. I choose to feed my faith by studying Your promises and declaring Your Word over my life. Help me to totally trust in You today and always in Jesus’ name. Amen.
