Oh the Weather Outside is Frightening....

Another SEW off the Subject...

Here in Missouri we haven't had any REAL winter snow or precipitation yet (well in my neck of the woods), just cold temps! While I won't complain - and as a teacher I kinda like that since I really don't want any snow days for the kiddos - I would rather have my Spring Break! It looks dreary outside today and snow is on it's way. With yucky impending weather scheduled for the next 3 days, I thought I would scrapbook. Now mind you my scrapbooking now consists of uploading pics to Kodak and creating hard covered photo albums ;)

Anyhoo, I came across these adorable pics of Eme wearing her Matilda Jane when the weather was a little more desirable, so I thought I would share. If you would like to own this adorable set , it will be listed for resell on my Ebay site at a later deate....I'm really hoping we can still wear this set this spring. This is the Skye knot top from the Hammond Bay collection over the green pearlhead dress from the Platinum collection. I also can't help but mention my Geraniums....they look awesome and have me craving Spring! =)

Happy weekend to you all and may your Saturday and Sunday be full of God's blessings!

How'd They Do That? Easy Bandana Halter Dress

You will need: three 22-inch bandannas and 1 1/2 yards cotton twill tape.

1.From one bandanna, cut four 3-inch-wide strips to make straps, as shown.

2. Stack other two bandannas (top), right sides facing, matching up designs. Pin together on long sides. Stitch together one pinned side, then other, stopping 6 inches from corner (for keyhole opening). Make straps (bottom): Sew one long and one short strip together end-to-end. Fold ends under as a hem and press. Fold resulting piece lengthwise; stitch 1/2 inch from fold. Turn right side out; press. Repeat with other two border pieces.

3.Refold dress so seams are centered and opening is up, as shown. Stitch down, across, then up other side of opening. Hem dress at bottom, if desired. At top, fold down edge along print border; stitch parallel to fold to create a 1-inch channel.

4. Run twill tape through channel with safety pin; leave ends free. With dress flat (not gathered), pin straps to inside, placing each 2 1/2 inches from center front seam. Stitch straps in place, securing tape with stitches so dress won't gather at neckline. Tie straps behind neck.

Thanks Martha for the great idea! I will definitely be making this one =)

Ok Maybe I'm Slow...New Approach to Stain Removing

So while laundering Eme's clothes from last spring.summer to get ready for Ebay ~hint hint, go check out my listings~ I was complaining to a friend about stains. I have tried everything on the market and some work some don't or some work for a while then all the sudden they don't take out BOO! So anyway, she told me that ALL free and clear takes anything out! I said you know that's an actual laundry detergent right???? duh! She said Well yes I know that but put a little dollop in the stain and rub it together then throw in the wash.....
So I tried this on Eme's things and HOLY CROW it looked brand spanking new! I just wanted to pass this stain removing trick along (and you probably already knew this trick)for the rest of the world to try! I am always looking for a great cleaning tip =)

Adding Something New for 2011

To the right you will find an AWESOME devotion that I feel needs to be shared and spread! I get 2 each day from Proverbs 31 Ministries and from Joel & Victoria Olsteen. They offer such wonderful encouragement for everyday living from relationships to finances and how to enjoy life's journey on the way to where we are going. God has a plan for each of us, a plan that he created before we were even born. As long as we stay in his word and allow his perfect will to work in our lives, we will see and receive his grace....grace that surpasses everything!

As we embark on this new year, with God's grace, I will conquer once and for all the debt that know we all have been there or are there now. Student loan, medical, credit card, car loans, mortgages, etc. this list can go on and on but I truly believe that God has put in me a desire and need to be debt free. His word in Romans 13:8 tells us that we are to "Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law." and other translation says "Pay your debts as they come due. However, one debt you can never finish paying is the debt of love that you owe each other."
So this is my pledge in 2011 - To Get on the Road to Financial Freedom! I will not be anxious or worry about this task as God the Father will see it through!

Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

Another great scripture regarding debt: "The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives" Psalm 37:21

Blessings to you all in the New Year and may God truly do a good work in and through you this new year through =)
